The Ashbury Park Press provides a summary and review of the book "To See Every Bird on Earth: A Father, a Son, and a Lifelong Obsession." The story focuses on how the author's father's compulsive need to count birds affected his family and life.
Bird lovers from across the nation are welcome to the Quad Cities for the Midwest Birding Symposium Oct. 13-16, 2005. People can now register for the Symposium online at www.visitquadcities.com/midwestbirding.
The headquarters for the 2005 Midwest Birding Symposium is the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport, Iowa. Participants have the opportunity to attend sessions on raptors & river ecology with nationally-recognized speakers; walk through the Marketplace; enjoy guided birding field trips, exhibits, book-signings, family programs; and a cruise on the Celebration Belle non-gaming riverboat.
Nationally-known birding experts will be keynote speakers. Some of the speakers include: John Acorn from the Animal Planet channel, Bill and Elsa Thompson from Bird Watcher’s Digest, Don and Lillian Stokes, and Ernesto Ruela-Inzuna from Venezuela. Environmentalist and Quad Cities’ native, Chad Pregracke, will open the event on Thursday night.
Along with the workshop sessions and the marketplace, attendees have the chance to go on one of eight different field trips on Friday or Saturday. These different field trips take birders out to see native wildlife, including: ducks, herons, waterthrush, woodpeckers, waterfowl, egrets, and more.
