Welcome to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's bird alert for November
25th, 2005. This report covers the period from November 18th to November 25th,
and will be updated again on December 1st.

The WESTERN KINGBIRD found in Jamestown last week was not seen after the
17th, however, another WESTERN KINGBIRD was reported from Atlantic Ave in the
Misquamicut section of Westerly. It was found on the 24th, but was not relocated
the next day. Two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were located on the 25th at the
Misquamicut Country Club. The birds were visible from the western end of
Atlantic Avenue. In the vicinity of Winnapaug Pond, 1 SHORT-EARED OWL, 1 BALD EAGLE
and 1 AMERICAN KESTREL In the parking lot at Misquamicut Beach on the 23rd,
25 HORNED LARK and 35 SNOW BUNTING.

Another GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found on the 25th in Hoffman Camp
pond along Ministerial Road in South Kingstown.

On the 19th at East Beach, in the Watch Hill section of Westerly, at the
western end of Atlantic Avenue near Little Maschaug Pond, 2 CAVE SWALLOW. That
same day a third CAVE SWALLOW was flying along Green Hill Beach in South
Kingstown.

At Green Hill Beach in South Kingstown, 1 KING EIDER continues to be seen
there. It is with about 75 COMMON EIDER.

At Trustom Pond NWR, the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was reported again this
week along with 3 SNOW GEESE and 3 REDHEAD.

On Mud Pond in Matunuck, 6 NORTHERN SHOVELER and 1 BLUE-WINGED TEAL. On the
20th, 1 NORTHERN GOSHAWK was identified in the area. Along Moonstone Beach a
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen on the 19th.

In the field to the north of the entry to Roy Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck,
20 EASTERN MEADOWLARK were discovered on the 20th, and 15 AMERICAN PIPIT were
circling the fields at Roy Carpenter's that day.

On the 22nd at Succotash Marsh in Jerusalem a LITTLE BLUE HERON was reported.

At Sachuest Point in Middletown, an ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER was found on the
19th. On the 20th at Sachuest, 1 SHORT-EARED OWL, 40 SNOW BUNTING and 1 BARN
SWALLOW.

On the 20th at St. Mary's Pond in Portsmouth, 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL.

In Portsmouth on the 25th, 1 COMMON RAVEN was observed flying north over
Union Street near Middle Road.

Finally, in Burrillville, 5 PINE SISKINS visited a feeder.
