NORTHERN SHRIKE, SHARP-TAILED SPARROW, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW,
RUSTY BLACKBIRD, GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE.
Mendocino Co.

On Nov 30, at 130pm, the LAYSAN ALBATROSS has returned to Point Arena
Cove. The bird was seen on the right-hand side of the wharf.

San Mateo Co.

On Nov 30, at high tide, a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was seen at
the salt marsh at the end of East 3rd Ave in San Mateo.
Directions as follows, from Highway 101 in San Mateo take East Third
Avenue to just about over a mile until, you come to traffic light with a
sign for Anchor Road to the right. Turn left into the parking lot and
park near the first P.G. E tower on your right hand side. Walk up to
the dike and take the trail into the salt marsh to the west until
just after passing the second P.G.E. tower, you will come across a piece
of blue wreckage from a boat. The Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow
was seen on the bayside of the trail. (Ron Thorn)
On Nov 29, the female TUFTED DUCK was seen again in the scaup flock
at the lagoon along Mindinao Street off of Shearwater Parkway in
Redwood Shores. (Ron Thorn)
On Nov 28, a CACKLING GOOSE was amongst the many Canada Geese on
the lawn at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Mission Blvd in Colma.

On Nov 28, the young male RUSTY BLACKBIRD was re-found on the telephone
wires in the NW corner of Bayfront Park in Menlo Park, east end of
Marsh Road. The flock of blackbird could be in several different areas,
top of hill, over the hill and in the valley to the south, or the wires
near the highway.(Ron Thorn)
Modoc Co.

On Nov 27, (2) AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS seen along Route 115, 2.7 miles
south of the entrance to the auto tour loop of the Modoc NWR. This is
just SE of Alturas, east of Hwy 395. The birds were in a small clump
of willows in a low wet area near the side of the road . An immature
NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen east of Hwy 395, 3.5 miles south of the
Oregon border, east of Goose lake. The bird was in scrub near a stream
which runs through a field, 0.2 miles south of Road 133b. On the 28th,
a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in a blackbird flock on the south side of
Hwy 299, east of Centerville Road in Canby. (Steve Rottenborn)
