SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

A GOLDEN EAGLE was reported about 2 miles east of Phelan seen from Highway
138 on Thursday December 1.


RIVERSIDE COUNTY

ON Sunday November 27, Roger Higson reported the following from the Blythe
area and the Colorado River: BRANT, BARROWS GOLDEN EYE (male), ZONE-
TAILED HAWK, HARRIS’S HAWK, numerous MOUNTAIN PLOVER, large numbers of
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, CRISSAL THRASHER (7), SWAINSON’S HAWK (Dark
Phase), GILDED FLICKER, WOOD DUCK (5), SANDHILL CRANE, PRAIRIE FALCON (3),
MERLIN (4), and PEREGRINE FALCON.

The BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER continues at Fairmont Park in Riverside
in the top of cypress trees at the corner of Banks and Redwood.

A flock of CEDAR WAX WINGS was seen feeding on palm berries along the top
trails in Citrus State Park in Riverside.

Howard King reported a BALD EAGLE at the east end of Lake Perris as well
as a PERERGINE FALCON. Howard also reported a small goose flock at the
south end of Mystic Lake. There were 2 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and 11
ALEUTIAN CACKLING GEESE, among others. He also reported about 20 White-
tailed Kite.

Sandy and Bruce Swan reported a male VERMILION FLYCATCHER inside the
entrance of Silver Rock Resort in La Quinta in the mesquite trees next to
the second pond on the east side of the divided entry road.

IMPERIAL COUNTY

On November 26, Gjon Hazard birded the lower Colorado River mitigation
area near Cibola NWR along the river dike road south of the bridge to
Arizona and reported PAINTED BUNTING, ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER, PRAIRIE
FALCON and 100+ SANDHILL CRANES. On Sunday, November 27, he reported the
following from the main campground area at Picacho State Recreation Area:
DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER and a RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKER. A GRAY FLYCATCHER was at campsite 19. Several ASH-THROATED
FLYCATCHERS were in the mesquite scrub and ironwoods. In the Imperial dam
area on the All-American Canal he reported a few COMMON GOLDEN EYE. On
West Pond were two HOODED MARGANSERS (female). A YELLOW WARBLER was in
Phil Swing Park.

On November 24, John Luther reported BELL’S VIREO, PLUMBEOUS VIREO and a
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER in the cottonwoods near the southeastern boat
dock at Picacho State Park Recreation Area. There were at least 2 YELLOW-
BELLIED SAPSUCKERS and 2 RED-NAPED SAPSUCKERS in the cottonwoods just east
of the campground.

ON December 1, Bob Miller reported a DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER at Cattle
Call Park in Brawley. It was in the large trees in the fenced area on the
west side on the arena and south of the picnic area.
