This is a summary of reports from the Northern California
BirdBox, sponsored by the Golden Gate Audubon Society, compiled
12 December 2005 at 06:15 a.m.

Highlights: LAYSAN ALBATROSS, LONG-TAILED DUCK, BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, GRAY JAY, HARRIS' SPARROW,
NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW.

San Francisco Co.
-----------------
On Dec 11, the ORCHARD ORIOLES continue in the bottlebrush on the east
side of the community garden at Fort Mason. Also (2) HARRIS' SPARROW
were associating with the sparrow flock near the bottlebrush and were
on the west side of the garden. (Michelle "Leoppus")

San Mateo Co.
-------------
On Dec 11, the NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was at the same location,
where last observed it on November 30. The Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow
was perched on the green clump of Gum Plant in the Cord Grass marsh from
about (40 ft.) from the trail looking out to the bay. I was standing
next to the blue piece wreckage from a boat on the trail. From Highway
101 take East Third Avenue about one-half miles to a traffic light,
where a sign is posted for a right turn for Anchor Way instead turn left
driving into the parking lot and park across from the first P.G.E.
tower. Walk up to the dike and a dirt trail near the tower will lead you
west into the marsh. After you past the second tower, you will come
across the blue piece of wreckage from a boat. There is a larger piece
of wreckage farther along the trail, but do ignore that location.
On Dec 10, a LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen flying south at Pigeon Point
and a CASSIN'S AUKLET was seen close by. (Ron Thorn)

On Dec 11, an ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE was at Neptune Ave in Redwood
Shores. The GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was at Davit Lane. The male
BLUE-WINGED TEAL was in the pond behind the Nob Hill Market.

Santa Clara Co.
---------------
On Dec 11, the SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER continues east of the railroad
tracks on the mudflats, east of the Alviso Marina Parking Lot.

Mendocino Co.
-------------
On Dec 11, (4) GRAY JAYS were seen near the Visitor's Center by the
paved circular turn-around near the restrooms at Van Damme State Park.
The LAYSAN ALBATROSS was seen at Pt Arena Cove in the afternoon.
