recorded on Monday, December 12, at 10:40 a.m. To report a bird

A light-phase RED-TAILED HAWK was seen in Southland Park in Calgary on
Thursday, Dec 8. The hawk was an immature bird and was seen by Dick and
Lenora Flynn, who also on the River reported 2 GREATER SCAUP & 2
REDHEADS. Bill Wilson reported a REDHEAD on the Bow River at the
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary on Sunday, Dec 11; while other
waterfowl reports over the weekend included 3 male & 1 female SCAUP,
probably LESSER SCAUP, seen above the weir at Wyndham-Carseland PP by
Terry Korolyk on Saturday, Dec 10. Rob Worona saw a HARLEQUIN DUCK just
south of the footbridge at Carburn Park in Calgary on Sunday, Dec 11.

Richard Clarke observed a grey-morph GYRFALCON on Wednesday, Dec 7, west
of Calgary. Richard saw the bird at 11:30 am on Hwy 8, approx 6 km west
of the Calgary City limits.

There were 2 reports of KILLDEER over the seekend. Terry Korolyk
observed one along Willow Creek below the dam at Pine Coulee Reservoir,
west of Stavely, on Saturday, Dec 10; and on Sunday, Dec 11, Bill Wilson
reported a KILLDEER was at the Cave & Basin marsh at Banff Townsite.
Also on Dec 11, Bill Wilson reported a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was at
Vermilion Lakes near the Banff Townsite. Another SOLITAIRE had been
reported near Drumheller by Jim McCabe on Thursday, Dec 8. A PURPLE
FINCH has been reported coming to a feeder in north Drumheller by Jody
Allair & Elaine Secord. Rob Worona reported a HARRIS'S SPARROW was at
186 Riverview PA in the back yard on Sunday, Dec 11.

Ken Havard, Milt Spitzer and Mike Mulligan reported 3 SHARP-TAILED
GROUSE were at Ovan's Slough, northwest of Cochrane, on Saturday, Dec
10. Go west from Cochrane on Hwy 1A to the Horse Creek Rd, then go
north on the Horse Creek Rd and stay north for 3 km on the gravel road
after the Horse Creek Rd intersects with this road and turns due west.
Bill Wilson on Sunday, Dec 11, observed 5 WHITE-TAILED PTARMIGAN off Hwy
93, 2.8 km north of Num-ti-jah Lodge in Bow Pass.
