This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for
Monday, August 15, 2005, sponsored by The Dayton Audubon
Society.
On August 13-14th at Englewood MetroPark, the following were
observed: COMMON TERN, WESTERN SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPER, BLACK
TERN, CASPIAN TERN, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, and
KILLDEER.
Observed on August 14th at Caesar Creek State Park beach - BLACK
TERNS.
Reported from Englewood MetroPark on August 6th: WESTERN SANDPIPER,
AMERICAN PIPIT, and SANDERLING. Also observed on August 7th:
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, GRAY CATBIRD, and HOUSE WREN.
Observed on August 7th at Englewood MetroPark Island Park - a
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.
Observed on August 7th, a BLUE GROSBEAK is still present at the
Englewood North Park on Old Springfield Road. Also reported: OSPREY,
GREAT EGRET, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, GREEN HERON, COOPER'S HAWK, and GRAY
CATBIRD.
