The FRANKLIN'S GULL discovered two weeks ago by Michael and Eric Beohm at
the north tip of Tybee Island continues at least through Monday, as reported
by Bill Lotz and Dan Vickers. One POMARINE JAEGER, one PARASITIC JAEGER and
PURPLE SANDPIPERS were also seen. [DeLorme: p. 39, grid B-10; Birding

Russ Wigh reported five GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS and three LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULLS from Tybee Island on Saturday.

An immature GLAUCOUS GULL was discovered at the Merry Brothers Brickyard
Ponds on the Augusta-Aiken Christmas Bird Count on Saturday. Don't forget
to go to the bait shack to check in prior to looking for the bird. It was
seen in the middle big pond with other gulls roosting in the water.

CANVASBACK, 76 WOOD DUCKS, 259 SORAS, 22 KING RAILS, four VIRGINIA RAILS,
one AMERICAN BITTERN, two BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, two CATTLE EGRETS, a
BALD EAGLE, one BONAPARTE'S GULL, three TREE SWALLOWS, and 600 GREEN-WINGED

SHORT-EARED OWL in the sparrow fields, as well as an AMERICAN BITTERN,

along GA 166 just west of West Chapel Hill Rd. south of Douglasville,
