Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of January 16,
2006.

A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen at the feeders at the
Alaska bird Observatory on January 13.

A NORTHERN GOSHAWK has been seen several times in the Cripple
Creek area most recently on January 4.

NORTHEN HAWK OWLS continue to be seen in good numbers. One
was seen in the Rosy Creek burn on January 2, and another bird was
seen west of Chena Pump Road on January 6. A third bird was at Lee's
cabin in the White Mountains Rec. Area on January 7.

Upcoming events include:

A free public seminar by Travis Booms entitled: Gyrfalcons, Mud, and
Extinct Volcanoes - Interesting Trends on the Yukon Delta National
Wildlife Refuge will be presented on January 17 at 7 PM at the ABO
Center for Education & Research.

The Great Backyard Bird Count will take place from February 17 - 20.
This is a joint project of Audubon and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

An Arctic Audubon Society program entitled: Bhutan: Backcountry to
Birds will be presented on Monday, February 13, at 7:00 pm, at the Noel
Wien Library.

A field trip to the Audubon-Riedel Nature Reserve will take place on
Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 AM. Meet at the Creamer's Field
Farmhouse to carpool.

where the bird was seen along with your name and phone number.
