Highlight species include Green Heron, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Snowy
Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Laughing Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Three-toed
Woodpecker, Alder Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Black Phoebe, Nashville
Warbler, and Townsend's Warbler.

A GREEN HERON was reported by Hansley at Cottonwood Marsh, Boulder County, on
August 15. Another GREEN HERON was seen by the Wednesday Roadrunners at the
lake on the White Rocks Trail, Boulder County, on August 17.

An immature YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON and BLACK PHOEBE were reported by
Moss at the Ash Street section of the Canon City Riverwalk, Fremont County,
on August 17.

SNOWY PLOVERS were reported by Moss on the south side of Cheraw Reservoir,
Otero County, on August 14.

A juvenile RUDDY TURNSTONE was reported by Schmoker and Wood on the west side
at Adobe Creek Reservoir, Bent and Kiowa Counties, on August 14.

A first-year GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported by Beltz at Cherry Creek
State Park, Arapahoe County, on August 5. The gull was at the southeast inlet
sandbar. The gull was seen again on August 17.

A female THREE-TOED WOODPECKER was reported by Keirn at sites #15 and #17 of
Tunnel Campground, Larimer County, on August 13. The campground is 7 miles
north of Hwy. 14 on Larimer Road.

Leukering and Semo reported the following empidonax flycatchers at Box Spring
Ponds in Crowley County on August 13: WILLOW, LEAST, DUSKY, ALDER and
YELLOW-BELLIED. Box Springs Ponds are at the north end of Crowley County east of Hwy.
71 on BB Rd. See DeLorme p. 98. The ALDER FLYCATCHER was heard again on
August 14. They also reported a 2nd-cycle LAUGHING GULL at Lake Meredith, Crowley
County, on August 13. The gull was seen again on August 14.

NASHVILLE WARBLERS were reported by Steele in the spruce-fir of Lone Cone
Mountain south of Norwood, San Miguel County, on August 15 and on the west side
of Dolores Mountains, San Miguel County, on August 14.

A TOWNSEND'S WARBLER was reported by Beason in the Raggeds Wilderness near
Anthracite Creek, Gunnison County, on August 14.

The field trip for Saturday, August 20, is to the Longmont Area led by Chris
Owens and Richard Mendez. Meet the leaders at 7:00 A.M. at Jim Hamm Park.
This will be a three-quarter to full day trip so bring lunch and extra water.
State Parks Pass may be needed. Call 303-772-6048 for more information.

The field trip for Sunday, August 21, is to Roxborough State Park led by
Doris Cruze. Meet the leader at 7:30 A.M. at Roxborough Visitor Center. Trip will
end around 11:00 A.M. so lunch is optional but bring plenty of water. State
