This is the birding hotline report of the Madison Audubon Society for
Sunday August 14th.

On August 7th a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported near the bridge on the
road to the Arena Boat Landing.

Two observers at the County V ponds in northern Dane County on Friday, the
12th, reported 2 BAIRD’S SANDPIPERS, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, and around 50 SANDHILL CRANES.

A Madison visitor to Door County on the 12th, finally, reported finding a
GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL off Washington Island, and 1-2 thousand
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS hunting between Washington and Rock Islands.
