SNOWY OWLS are still the birds of the week....
Kootenai Co ID. The SNOWY OWL on the Rathdrum Prairie in Kootenai Co ID was
still being seen through 8 Feb. Look for it on the west side of Greenferry
Road, a short distance north of Prairie Road near Gallop Lane.
Latah Co ID. The two SNOWY OWLS along Berger Road NE of Genesee were last
reported on 31 Jan, although they still may be in the area. To get there
from US 95, turn east onto the Old US 95 at milepost 336.3 (about 7.5 miles
south of Moscow). Follow Old US 95 about 2.5 miles until it veers right
(south) onto the Genesee-Troy Road. Follow the GT Road south about 0.25
miles and turn left (east) onto Eikum Road. Follow Eikum about 1.5 miles.
Here, Danielson Road goes off to the right, Eikum makes a zig, and Danielson
goes off to the left. Immediately Eikum becomes Berger. Go another mile.
Just before Berger makes a sharp right turn south, there's a big basin on
the north side of the road. Look for the birds. You'll probably need a

Lincoln / Spokane Co WA. Marian Frobe found one on the old Sunset Hwy near
Mann Road on 1 Feb. On 8 Feb, Ron Dexter found 3 owls. One south of Detour
Road west of Bennett Road. One just north of Wagner Farm Road between
Carstens and Waukon. The third was south on Omans Road from Morrison Road.

LONG-TAILED DUCKS are persisting in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID. Birds were
observed between 1 Feb and 6 Feb by Keith Carlson, Kent Henderson, and Mike
and MerryLynn Denny. Look for them on the Clearwater River between the
confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers and the railroad bridge along
the US 12 bypass in Lewiston. At least 9 different individuals have been
identified this winter. Also in the valley, at least one male EURASIAN
WIGEON was also seen on the river between the Costco in Clarkston, Asotin Co
WA and the grain terminals in Lewiston.
On 3 Feb Bob Flores observed 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES at Bassett Park in
Washtucna, Adams Co WA.
A PACIFIC LOON and a MEW GULL were reported from near Harrison, Kootenai Co
ID by Lisa Hardy on 4 Feb.
