This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for
Wednesday, February 22, 2006, sponsored by The Dayton Audubon
Society.

On February 21, two RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were seen at Aullwood
Audubon Center.

On February 21, observed at Eastwood MetroPark were COMMON GOLDENEYE,
BUFFLEHEAD, and HERMIT THRUSH.

At Brukner Nature Center on February 22, BARRED and GREAT HORNED
OWLS, PURPLE FINCH, WINTER WREN, and TURKEY VULTURE were seen.

MUTE SWANS were seen at Spring Valley Wildlife Area on February 22;
and nearby in Waynesville, RING-NECKED PHEASANT and EASTERN BLUEBIRD
were observed along the roadway.

On February 16, PIED-BILLED GREBE and HOODED MERGANSER were seen at
Huffman MetroPark.

On February 12 at a feeder in Union, seen were RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH,
RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, DOWNY WOODPECKER, BROWN CREEPER, and COOPER'S
and SHARP-SHINNED HAWK.

At Englewood MetroPark on February 12, Common and Hooded Mergansers
were observed; and at the West entrance, seen at the suet feeder by
the stone wall were Pileated, Downy, and Red-bellied Woodpecker; and
Brown Creeper, Hermit Thrush, and Blue Jay.
