Santa Cruz County:
The CRESTED CARACARA continues in the Swanton Road area. The bird is
being seen in various locations from along Highway One to farther up
Swanton Road. [Many reports today]
At the Pajaro River mouth on the Santa Cruz side there were 3 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 5 COMMON MERGANSERS and a RUDDY TURNSTONE. [Peter Metropolis]
Salinas River NWR
A juvenile STILT SANDPIPER was on the pond today with the Dowitchers and
Phalarope. 2 BLACK SKIMMER and a PEREGRINE FALCON were also observed.
[David Vander Plym] Two more BLACK SKIMMER and 3 RED KNOT were on the
pond and 2 SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER were on the lagoon. [Ryan Terrell]
Moss Landing:
The continuing LAUGHING GULL was reported today by the Elkhorn Slough
Safari, about 1/4 mile upstream from the Highway. One RED KNOT was on
the Slough and a WANDERING TATTLER was on one of the Jettys. Over at
Moon Glow Dairy, the CATTLE EGRET remains. [Peter Metropolis]
