This is the weekly summary of reports from the Northwestern California
Bird Alert, sponsored by the City of Arcata and Redwood Region
Audubon Society and from the generous donations of local birders.
Mostbirds reported are in Humboldt County unless otherwise noted.
Birds in caps under the "highlights" section have about 50 (plus
or minus 5) records of occurrence in Northwestern California as
defined in Stan Harris's "Northwestern California Birds" (3rd
edition, 2005). California Bird Records Committee review species
are noted with an asterisk (*). Send reports of California Bird

A WESTERN BLUEBIRD was seen on South Gwin Road in Mckileyville (Bill
Miller).
2 March

A SAY'S PHOEBE was found at he Blue Ox Millworks Park in Eureka. The park is
located at 1st and X Street (Ken Burton).
A flock of IBIS, probably WHITE-FACED, was seen just west of Woodley Island
(Don Wattenberger).
4 March

On the northwestern side of the V-street Loop, in the Arcata Bottoms, 8
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen. A 1st winter male COMMON GOLDENEYE
was seen in the slough on the south side of the road. Five TREE SWALLOWS
were seen over the pond on Jackson Ranch Road and 4 more TREE SWALLOWS were
seen over the Allen Marsh, at the Arcata Marsh (Scott Carey).
