This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, March 6.
Seen in the Newburyport/Plum Island area over the weekend were 2 SNOW
GEESE, 25 BRANT, 24 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 2 TURKEY VULTURES,
7 BALD EAGLES, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON, 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL, 2 SNOWY OWLS, and 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE, and reports from
various points around Cape Ann included 1 SNOW GOOSE, 22 BRANT, 2
KING EIDERS, 1 PACIFIC LOON at Cathedral Ledge in Rockport, the
EARED GREBE and a BLACK-HEADED GULL at Niles Beach in East
Gloucester, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON, 4 ICELAND GULLS, 3 GLAUCOUS
GULLS, and 5 GRAY CATBIRDS.
Weekend reports from Nantucket included 1 SNOW GOOSE, 1 EURASIAN
WIGEON, 2 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 18 REDHEADS, 18 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 6 HARLEQUIN DUCKS, 700 BUFFLEHEAD, 500 COMMON
GOLDENEYE, 1 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, 43 ICELAND
GULLS, 49 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 1 OVENBIRD coming to
a feeder, 1 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, and 12 COMMON GRACKLES,
and at the Daniel Webster Sanctuary in Marshfield there were 9 NORTHERN
HARRIERS, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK,
10 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS, 8 COMMON GRACKLES, and 20 RED-
WINGED BLACKBIRDS.
Miscellaneous reports from the weekend included a BOREAL CHICKADEE
coming to a feeder in Rowley, a BOHEMIAN WAXWING in Athol, 4 WOOD
DUCKS at Bolton Flats, 1 COMMON RAVEN in Manchester, 16 TURKEY
VULTURES in Ipswich, 53 RING-NECKED DUCKS and 14 REDHEADS
at Nine-acre Corner in Concord, 6 FISH CROWS in Waltham, a BLACK-
HEADED GULL at Leverett Pond in Jamaica Plain, 2 WILSON'S SNIPE
and 5 NORTHERN FLICKERS at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain,
13 HARLEQUIN DUCKS and 6 BLACK GUILLEMOTS in North Scituate,
a DICKCISSEL at Ferry Hill Thicket in Marshfield, 7 PINE SISKINS
elsewhere in Marshfield, a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in Pembroke,
and 70 AMERICAN WIGEON and 3 EURASIAN WIGEON at Great
Pond in Falmouth.
