Two early EASTERN PHOEBES were seen in Harrison.
An OSPREY was sighted on Eight Rod Road in Augusta.
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and COMMON GRACKLES were widely reported around
southern Maine.
TURKEY VULTURES are moving out of southern Maine and moving northward.
NORTHERN SHRIKES are continuing to be reported around the state.
York County
There were 2 hawks in West Kennebunk; 1 SHARP-SHINNED and 1 adult
NORTHERN GOSHAWK. At Gooserocks Beach in Kennebunk there were 8 HORNED
LARKS.
There was a pair of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS in Limington at 4 Taylor Loop Rd.
In South Hiram SAW-WHET and BARRED OWLS have been calling at night.
There was a HERMIT THRUSH at 268 Ferry Road, Saco.
A GRAY CATBIRD showed up in a yard in Hills Beach in Biddeford along
with a Savannah Sparrow.
Two early EASTERN PHOEBES were seen in Harrison.
Scarborough Marsh Area
A pair of NORTHERN PINTAIL, 9 REDHEAD, 1 female SCAUP, and 2 FISH CROWS
were at Scarborough Marsh. They were seen from the Pelreco Building and
the Nestling Duck Gift Shop throughout the week.
Greater Portland and Western Maine
At Two Lights State park in Cape Elizabeth there were 14 HARLEQUIN DUCKS
and 1 GREAT CORMORANT. Also in Cape Elizabeth at Kettle Cove there were
6 BRANT and 3 HORNED LARKS.
A CAROLINA WREN and FIELD SPARROW were at the Wild Bird Center in
Yarmouth.
There was a pair of BARROW'S GOLDENEYE at Winslow Park in Freeport.
Also in Freeport, we received the following sightings, a CHESTNUT-SIDED
WARBLER was eating some mealworms and at least two EASTERN BLUEBIRDS
were on the ground along the road to Wolfe Neck State park.
In Gray on Route 115 there was a SAW-WHET OWL calling.
In Wilton there were a NORTHERN GOSHAWK and a COOPERS HAWK.
In Bridgton there were 6 PINE SISKINS and a BROWN CREEPER.
There were 5 male and 3 female HOODED MERGANSERS at the outlet of
Cobbossee Lake.
Central Maine
There were 2 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE below the Shawmut Dam on the Kennebec
River in Fairfield.
There was a drake WOOD DUCK, along with a dozen mallards, on the shore
of Skowhegan Island, 100 ft. below the swinging bridge between the
island and Alder Street.
An OSPREY was sighted on Eight Rod Road in Augusta.
In Waterville there was a flight of appropriately 2500 AMERICAN CROWS
returning to a roost.
There were 6 COMMON REDPOLLS and 1 BARRED OWL in Belgrade.
There were 6 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, 1 PINE GROSBEAK, 70 COMMON REDPOLLS, and
1 BARRED OWL in Oakland.
Eastern Maine
There was a SNOW GOOSE in a creek along Route One in Perry.
There was a NORTHERN PINTAIL present in Roque Bluffs at Cow Point.
A female WESTERN TANAGER coming to a feeder since mid-October continues
to come at least every other day. The bird can be found between the
driveway and the house, under the large Red Pine at 4 Freemont St. in
Machias.
Northern Maine
There were 20 SNOW BUNTINGS in Westfield (between Mars Hill and Presque
Isle).
One Gray Jay was in Cross Lake/Rte 161.
Two SNOW BUNTINGS were in Presque Isle.
In Fort Kent there were 25 COMMON REDPOLLS.
There were 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS in Houlton.
