Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of
August 22.
An OSPREY nest with chicks in it was seen along the Richardson
Highway in North Pole on August 15.
A NORTHERN HARRIER was seen at Creamers Field on
August 13. Large numbers of Sandhill Cranes and waterfowl
are present in the fields there.
A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was sighted around the Alaska
Bird Observatorys banding station at Creamers Field on August 9.
AMERICAN KESTRELS continue to be seen at the hay fields at
3 miles Chena Hotsprings Road.
Upcoming events include:
On August 25, at 6:30 PM, join Dr. Susan Sharbaugh, ABO's senior
biologist, for an evening stroll around Creamer's Refuge to look for
birds and other wildlife. The walk will begin and end at ABO's
Center for Education & Research.
Saturday Mornings with an Artist at Creamer's will take place
on August 27 at 9:00 AM. Enjoy a cup of coffee at the Creamer's
Visitor Center with local photographer Herb Melchior and learn
more about his work.
A Fall Exploration Walk will take place on September 9 at 6:30 PM.

species prepare for winter. The walk will begin and end at ABO's
