Highlight species include: Green Heron, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Black
Vulture, Ruddy Turnstone, Short-billed Dowitcher, Laughing Gull, Great
Black-backed Gull, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Black Phoebe, Cassin's Vireo, Nashville
Warbler, Townsend's Warbler, and Pine Warbler.

A GREEN HERON was reported by Hansley at Cottonwood Marsh, Boulder County, on
August 15. Another GREEN HERON was seen by the Wednesday Roadrunners at the
lake on the White Rocks Trail, Boulder County, on August 17. On August 20,
Ellis reported seeing three GREEN HERONS at Cottonwood Marsh.

A GREEN HERON was reported by Korte at Walker Wildlife Area, Grand Junction,
Mesa County, on August 19.

An immature YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON and BLACK PHOEBE were reported by Moss
at the Ash Street section of the Canon City Riverwalk, Fremont County on
August 17.

A juvenile BLACK VULTURE was reported by Nelson at the dam at John Martin
Reservoir, Bent County, on August 22.

At Prewitt Reservoir, Logan and Washington counties, Kellner reported a
hatch-year PINE WARBLER, a basic RUDDY TURNSTONE, a juvenile SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHER, and TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS on August 21. At Crow Valley Campground, Weld
County, Kellner reported CASSIN'S VIREO and TOWNSEND'S WARBLER on August 21. At
Jackson Reservoir, Morgan County, Kellner reported HERRING GULLS and TOWNSEND'S
WARBLERS on August 21.

A LAUGHING GULL was reported by Wild at Fossil Creek Reservoir and Duck Lake
in Fort Collins, Larimer County, on August 21.

A first-year GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported by Beltz at Cherry Creek
State Park, Arapahoe County, on August 5. The gull was at the southeast inlet
sandbar. The gull was seen again on August 21.

A CASSIN'S VIREO and TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS were reported by Zerbi at Confluence
Park, Delta, Delta County, on August 21.

Luke reported TOWNSEND'S and NASHVILLE WARBLERS at Loudy-Simpson Park in
Craig, Moffat County, on August 19. He discovered EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES in
Maybell, Moffat County, on August 20 and the RUDDY TURNSTONE at Cheney Reservoir
south of Grand Junction, Mesa County, was still present on August 21.

A TOWNSEND'S WARBLER was reported by Rashid at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes
Park, Larimer County, on August 19.

A female first-year TOWNSEND'S WARBLER was reported by Brown at Cherry Creek
State Park, Arapahoe County, on August 22. It was in the pine trees east of
park headquarters.

The field trip for Saturday, August 27, is to Barr Lake State Park led by Lee
and Marilyn Rowe. Meet the leaders at 8:00 A.M. at the Nature Center in the
park. Half-day trip, lunch optional. State Parks Pass required. Call

The field trip for Sunday, August 28, is to Cherry Creek State Park led by
Bob and Lea Ann Brown. Meet the leaders at 7:30 A.M. at the marina which is
inside the west entrance. Half day trip, bring water, insecticide, and sun
