Today (Wed) at Laguna Niguel Regional Park a flock of 50 + TRICOLORED
BLACKBIRDS were seen as well as a MERLIN. The continuing adult male
AMERICAN REDSTART was also sighted in the park. Yesterday at the park a
minima CACKLING GOOSE was found and photographed.
At Mason Regional Park today a PLUMBEOUS VIREO was found.
At Irvine Regional Park today a PHAINOPEPLA was near the play area just west
of the zoo. (Expected migrants are starting to appear in the county
including Pacific-slope Flycatcher between restroom #8 and a play equipment
set at the park)
On Monday at Huntington Central Park, the MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER was at the
northeast corner of the Jack Green area, in the brush pile near the little
"waterfall." Also continuing was the CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER in willows
adjacent to the small duck pond south of the cafe.
Also on Monday a flock of 6 or 7 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were reported at
Carbon Canyon Park in pines on the far side of the lake.
Last Sunday the continuing GRAY FLYCATCHER was north of Lincoln along the
Santa Ana River bike trail, and the continuing AMERICAN REDSTART was along
the bike trail north of the Orange-Olive/RR crossing along the Santa Ana
River. Another continuing Gray Flycatcher was seen last Thursday on the
northeast corner of the Santa Ana Cemetery, and another on Saturday on the
west side of Huntington Central Park near the Shipley Nature Center along
with a prairie-type MERLIN.
Last Sunday an early sighting of VAUX'S SWIFT was made over Lake Forest, and
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at Santiago Oaks Regional Park.
Friday the continuing SUMMER TANAGER was seen on the east side of Huntington
Central Park by the fenced garden.
Last Thursday and Friday there was a continuing PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER with
the large flock of Black-bellied Plovers below the Seapoint Ave overlook of
Bolsa Chica Preserve.
