23 March 2006 at 06:05 a.m.

Highlights: RED-THROATED LOON, COMMON LOON, RED-NECKED GREBE,
CACKLING CANADA GOOSE, SNOW GOOSE, EURASIAN WIGEON, TUFTED DUCK,
HOODED MERGANSER, BALD EAGLE, MOUNTAIN PLOVER, RUFF, PIGEON GUILLEMOT,
BARN OWL, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH,
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE.

Alameda Co.

On Mar 21, a BARN OWL was on continues in the nest hole on top of the
old water tower at Vintage Lane, off of Bess Ave at the end of
Arroyo Road in Livermore. (Jean Richmond)

On Mar 18, the male TUFTED DUCK and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH continue at
Berkeley's Aquatic Park. (Rick Lebaudour)

Sonoma Co.
----------
On Mar 20, the MOUNTAIN PLOVER was re-found in the field to the south
of the parking lot at the wildlife area at the Richard Janson
"Fresh Air" Bridge. This is along Hwy 37. You must be driving
east on the highway to be able to exit at the correct place.

On Mar 19, a female HOODED MERGANSER was in the pond along Carmondy Road,
which is 1 mile south of Hwy 1, SW part of Sonoma Co. At Bodega Head,
there alternate plumages PIGEON GUILLEMOTS. At Shollenberger Park,
the male GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in the cat-tails south of

Santa Clara Co.

On Mar 21, LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCHES were in the tree tops along Mines
Road near the CDF Fire Station, just north of the junction.

Humboldt Co.
------------
On Mar 21 a RUFF was seen in the Arcata Bottoms. Take the Samoa Blvd
exit from Hwy 101 in Eureka. Go west, turn left on "V" Street,
go west, there is a residence's with the name "Wallace" on it.
The bird was on the left , about 100 yards down. (Scott Carey)

Marin Co.

On Mar 22, (2) adult BALD EAGLES were seen in the SE corner of
Tomales Bay. On Mar 21, at Stafford Lake, west of Novato, there were
MINIMA, CACKLING, and ALEUTIAN CANADA GOOSE and SNOW GOOSE.
At Binford Lane, a EURASIAN WIGEON was seen. At Las Gallinas Ponds,
there were reports of a ROCK WREN but not was not seen.
Migrating VAUX'S SWIFTS were observed. (Bob Power)

Butte Co.
---------
On Mar 21, the RED-THROATED LOON and RED-NECKED GREBE were re-located
at the Thermalito Afterbay. COMMON LOONS were on both sides of
the bridge. (Al DeMartini)

Sacramento Co.

On Mar 20, (65) VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS and (30) NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOWS were foraging low over the water at the Nimbus Dam.
