Monterey:
A bird first reported yesterday as a TUFTED PUFFIN was seen again this
morning by the same observer and identified as a HORNED PUFFIN. [Richard
Ternullo] The bird was west of the Coast Guard Pier this morning and seen
later in the day east of Wharf #2. Later again it was seen working its way
east toward the Monterey Beach Hotel. While this bird was observed several
times at different locations, it was elusive and missed my many birders
[like me] ,
A possible YELLOW-BILLED LOON was scoped in the distance from the Coast
Guard Pier today. It was moving away but the field marks looked good for
this species. Several RHINOCEROS AUKLET were also seen. [Don Roberson]
Moss Landing:
11 BRANT were along Jetty Road today and this observers first CASPIAN TERN
of the year was over the harbor. [Don Roberson]
