This is the Kentucky Bird Line, sponsored by the Kentucky Ornithological
Society. This update is current as of April 3, 2006 at 4:00 PM EDT. The
highlights of this update are:



A single RED-NECKED GREBE was noted on the 28th and again on the 29th in
Owensboro, but has not been relocated.



A few warblers are beginning to make an appearance. On the 1st at Mammoth
Cave NORTHERN PARULA, BLACK-AND-WHITE, YELLOW-THROATED, LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, and YELLOW-RUMPED were noted. LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, and PINE
WARBLERS were seen in Bernheim Forest on the 29th also.



A few shorebirds were reported. WILSON’S SNIPE were mentioned from numerous
locations, and GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and LEAST SANDPIPER were observed at
Jonathon Creek. PECTORAL SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, and AMERICAN GOLDEN
PLOVER were mentioned at Blood River. And PECTORAL were also seen in Logan
County.



RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS have been reported, with the earliest coming on
the 19th in the LBL area, and another showing up in Bowling Green on the
30th.



An early WOOD THRUSH was observed in Floyd County on the 1st or 2nd. And
the first mention of a ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW came in from Elliott County.



Numerous ducks are still being seen, with a ROSS’S GOOSE showing up in Logan
County. Several AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS are still on Jonathon Creek. Also
at Jonathon Creek were 4 FISH CROW.



And wintering birds still being reported included large numbers of PURPLE
FINCH, PINE SISKIN, DARK-EYED JUNCO, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and WINTER WRENS.
