Lisa Hardy and Shirley Sturts spotted the second-winter LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL and an adult MEW GULL on Moses Lake, Grant Co WA on 2 Apr. This LBBG
may be the same bird reported by Doug Schonewald back on 12 Mar. WA DeLorme
69, CD-6.
The GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE is back at Liberty Lake in the Spokane Valley,
Spokane Co WA for the 4th year in a row. Ron Dexter reports seeing it on 30
Mar. The bird is frequenting the Meadowwood Golf Course near the
intersection of Valleyway and Molter. WA DeLorme 88, C-8.
Michael Woodruff found 12 SNOW GEESE and 2 ROSS'S GEESE on the Adams Co WA
end of Sprague Lake on 31 Mar. The birds were still present on 3 Apr
according to Gina Sheridan, who saw them from Danekas Road-also there were a
couple of CACKLING GEESE. Sprague Lake straddles the Lincoln and Adams
county line just south of I-90. WA DeLorme 71, BC-8.
A few SNOWY OWLS are still persisting.... one was seen 1 Apr along Zeimer
Road east of Davenport, Lincoln Co WA according to the Ensor's. Bob Flores
saw 2 still lurking around the Tokio exit off I-90 between Cheney and
Ritzville in Adams Co WA. WA DeLorme 71, C-6.
Gina Sheridan reports one on 1 Apr at Atkins Lake in Douglas Co WA. Atkins
Lake is about 8 miles west of Coulee City, just north and west of US 2 where
US 2 curves south. WA DeLorme 84, CD-5. On 4 Apr Austin reports another near
the intersection of US 2 and Virgil Road between Davenport and Reardon,
Lincoln Co WA.
On 2 Apr Mike and MerryLynn Denny and the Shoemake's found a second-spring
GLAUCOUS GULL on the Walla Walla River delta in western Walla Walla Co WA.
Also there were 11 CASPIAN TERNS. The delta can be accessed 0.1 mile north
of Madame Dorian Park. There's a pull-out along US 12 at milepost 306.9 and
a path to the delta. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.
Michael Woodruff has been birding Philleo Lake west of Spangle in Spokane Co
WA. On 3 Apr he spied 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS with the other waterfowl and a
couple more on 5 Apr. From US 195, head west at the Spangle jct, immediately
right onto Jenness Road. After about 2 miles, veer left toward the lake. WA

Two TRUMPETER SWANS were on the Genesee sewage ponds, Nez Perce Co ID on 7
Apr according to Nancy Draznin. Take Cow Creek Road east from US 95 at
milepost 329.8 about 0.25 mile to the pond. ID DeLorme 58, C-1.
