PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER
BRANT

Friday, April 14
160 BRANT were seen at Island View Beach this morning. They
were seen along the beach along the northern most parking lot.
In the field south of the boat launch there 4 EURASIAN WIGEON and
12 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE.

Thursday, April 13
A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was heard on Saltspring Island on Beddis
Rd. This is the first for the year for the Victoria checklist area.
A ROCK SANDPIPER was seen again along the Victoria waterfront. It
was seen this time off the Chinese Cemetery, along with SURFBIRDS
and other shorebirds.

Tuesday, April 11
A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen on Mount Doug today. Also there were 1
HORNED LARK and 3 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES.
15 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, 6 AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, 2 HUTTON'S VIREOS
were among the 40 species seen on the power line right-of-way near
Francis King Park.
At Hasting's Flats there was 1 COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and 4 RING-NECKED
PHEASANTS.
At Rithet's Bog a SORA, VIRGINIA RAIL and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT at the
Dalewood end.
2 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES, 10 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, a MERLIN of the
TAIGA race were seen from Observatory Hill.
Up island in the Duncan area, 80 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were
seen migrating over Duncan.

Monday, April 10
A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was seen at Rithet's Bog. This is the first
record for the Victoria Checklist for the season.
3, possibly 4 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were seen from a top Mt Douglas.
At Island View Beach there were 90 BRANT GEESE. Also there was a
MOURNING DOVE.
A SPOTTED SANDPIPER was seen at Tower Point near Witty's Lagoon in
Metchosin.
A BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD was seen at Viaduct Flats.
On the west coast of the island, 350 SANDHILL CRANES were flying
by the Carmanah Pt Light Station.

FYI- The Painted Bunting in Brentwood Bay has not been reported
since Tuesday, April 4th.
