Migrants continue to move through the County. Last weekend one observer
reported an impressive number of individuals and species at Irvine Regional
park.
Yesterday (Tuesday) at Huntington Central Park a PLUMBEOUS VIREO was on the
east side of the thistle area and a SORA rail on the east side of the Jack
Green Nature area.
On Monday at Laguna Niguel Regional Park the adult male AMERICAN REDSTART
was refound in the area below the dam and along the creek. Another
continuing Redstart was still at the Orange-Olive RR track crossing, bike
trail... along the Santa Ana River along with the continuing Plumbeous Vireo
(last Saturday).
A pair of presumed nesting MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES have been seen on private
property in Lake Forest last week.. This species has over the last several
years been making appearances on the coastal plain.
Another sign that the EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE is making inroads into coastal
Orange County is a sighting, on private property, of one bird coming to a
feeder in Fountain Valley on Monday.
Last Monday one of the continuing REDDISH EGRETS was seen at Bolsa Chica
Preserve.
At Irvine Regional Park last Saturday a pair of PURPLE FINCHES were seen and
heard.
