This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, April 20. Please

The LITTLE BLUE HERON at Ballona Lagoon in Marina del Rey was seen through
April 19. The bird has been seen along the waterway near Voyage.

The LAUGHING GULL previously reported at the Ventura River mouth was seen
again on April 15.

A SABINE'S GULL was at the Lancaster Sewage Ponds in the Antelope Valley on
April 15. The ponds are east of the 14 Freeway on Avenue D. Be sure to ask
permission at the office before birding.

The GLAUCOUS GULL reported at Malibu Lagoon on April 9 was seen again on
April 15 and 19.

The bird of the week was a GREATER PEWEE found on April 17 at Griffith Park.
The location can be reached by parking in the Old Zoo Parking Area off
Griffith Park Drive. From here, walk up the paved road past the locked gate
and follow the road as it bends left to a grassy area with sycamores. This
bird has been looked for since the 17th but not refound.

The THICK-BILLED KINGBIRD at Banning Park in Wilmington continued through
April 20. The bird was last seen at 09:30 in the southeast corner of the
park. Banning Park is on the Pacific Coast Highway east of the 110 Freeway.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW continued through April 18 at the Village Green
Condominiums near unit 5314. The entrance is near the intersection of
Coliseum and South Cochran, near Rodeo Road and LaBrea. The condominiums
are private property, but birders are welcome.
