This is the Voice of Audubon for Friday, August 26.

The WILSON'S PLOVER and the CURLEW SANDPIPER were still at South
Beach in Chatham at least as recently as Wednesday, and other reports from
South
Beach this week have included 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, roughly 3000
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 18 PIPING PLOVERS, 129 AMERICAN
OYSTERCATCHERS, 8 WHIMBREL, 16 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 5
MARBLED GODWITS, 200 RED KNOTS, 2000 SEMIPALMATED SAND-
PIPERS, 2 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 75 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS,
1 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, 120 LAUGHING GULLS, roughly 5000
COMMON TERNS, 1 FORSTER'S TERN, and 2 BLACK Terns.

The CACKLING GOOSE that was last reported from the Great Meadows Refuge
in Concord last week was seen on Wednesday in a cow pasture on the north
side of the intersection of Route 2 and Barrett's Mill Road in West Concord.

Reports from Plum Island this week have included 22 GADWALL, 3 BLUE-
WINGED TEAL, 55 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 4 migrating WhITE-WINGED
SCOTER, 50 GREAT EGRETS, 70 SNOWY EGRETS, 12 GLOSSY IBISES,
1 LEAST BITTERN, 4 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS,
4 VIRGINIA RAILS, 1 SORA, 1 RED KNOT, 1350 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, roughly 1500 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 8 WESTERN
SANDPIPER, 100 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 200 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS,
3 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 2 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, 13 STILT
SANDPIPERS, 140 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 5 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS, 400 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 560 COMMON TERNS, 5
PURPLE MARTINS, roughly 25,000 TREE SWALLOWS, 9 RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCHES, 14 BROWN THRASHERS, 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER, 3
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, 1 BLACK-THROATED GREEN
WARBLER, 1 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, 26 BALTIMORE ORIOLES,
and 10 PURPLE FINCHES.

A seawatch on Wednesday at Andrew's Point in Rockport yielded 1 GREATER
SHEARWATER, 5 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 20 MANX SHEARWATERS,
2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, 16 PARASITIC JAEGERS, 225 ROSEATE
TERNS, 1800 COMMON TERNS, 1 FORSTER'S TERN, and 14 BLACK TERNS,
and seabirds seen on a boat trip from Newburyport to Jeffries Ledge included 2
CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 6 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 1 SOOTY SHEAR-
WATER, 3 MANX SHEARWATERS, and 34 WILSON'S STORM-
PETRELS.

Recorded at the Great Meadows Refuge in Concord were 1 GREAT EGRET,
30 WOOD DUCKS, 9 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 17 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, 4 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 14 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 25
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 60 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 8 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 1 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, and 4 WILSON'S SNIPE,
at Nantucket there were several CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 1 MARBLED
GODWIT, 6 WHIMBREL, 5 BLACK TERNS, 1 FORSTER'S TERN, 30
ROSEATE TERNS, 1 OVENBIRD, and 4 ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS,
and migrating COMMON NIGHTHAWKS counted at various vantage points
this week have included 47 at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, 222 in
Leicester, 180 in Worcester, and 150 in Westminster.
