RARE BIRD ALERT for a BLACK PHOEBE in Langley. This is apparently
only the third record for B.C. The bird has not been relocated since the
day it was found on April 28th.

Sightings for Saturday, April 29th:

Burnaby Mountain Park in Burnaby produced 1 male CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRD and 1 PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER.

A CHIPPING SPARROW was near the entrance gate at the Reifel Bird
Sanctuary in Delta.


Sightings for Friday, April 28th:

This afternoon a BLACK PHOEBE was discovered at the pond at Trinity
Western University on Glover Road in Langley. The bird called often
and was flycatching from perches over the water. The bird was seen
until at least 8:00 PM.

3 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and 1 WHIMBREL were seen at Blackie Spit in
Surrey.

A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta

At Point Roberts Washington the following birds were seen: 50 COMMON
MURRES, 40 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS, 75 PACIFIC LOONS were off
Lighthouse Marine Park and 6 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen
at Lily Point.

Two SANDHILL CRANES were at Beach Grove Lagoon in Delta.

Burnaby Mountain Park produced 4 BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLERS, 3 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS,
and 1 CASSIN'S VIREO.


No sightings reported for April 26th or 27th.


Sightings for Tuesday, April 25th:

2 VAUX'S SWIFTS were seen at Colony Farm in Coquitlam

A FRANKLIN'S GULL in alternate plumage was at the Reifel Bird
Sanctuary in Delta

10 MARBLED GODWITS were at Blackie Spit in South Surrey

A reported 1 to 1-1/2 million WESTERN SANDPIPERS were reported
from Brunswick Point in Delta


Sightings for Monday, April 24th:

A HORNED LARK was found along the road at Grant Narrows in Pitt
Meadows


Sightings for Sunday, April 23rd:

A family of 5 GREAT HORNED OWLS were present at Beach Grove Park in
Tsawwassen, as well as 2 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES and a
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER

A WILSON'S WARBLER was found at Burnaby Mountain Park


Sightings for Saturday, April 22nd:

1 male and 1 female PURPLE MARTIN were observed at Blackie Spit in
Surrey

A HORNED LARK was at the intersection on the grass of Gallant Ave
and Panorama Drive in Deep Cove, North Vancouver.


Sightings for Friday, April 21st:

VAUX'S SWIFTS were seen at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary

Two TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were in the 900 block of Alderside Rd in
Port Moody


Sightings for Thursday, April 20th:

A CASSIN'S VIREO was present at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary

328 BRANT and 9 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were near the marina in Point
Roberts, Washington.
