HORNED LARK
Friday, August 26
At Bowker Avenue in Oak Bay there were 63 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS,
3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 STILT SANDPIPER and 3 DOWITCHERS.
At Swan Lake in Saanich were 1 juvenile GREEN HERON and 2 GREATER
SCAUP.
Wednesday, August 24
14 HORNED LARKS were seen at Clover Point in Victoria.
40 BLACK TURNSTONES and 1 WANDERING TATTLER were seen at
the Ogden Point Breakwater in Victoria.
At Bowker Avenue were 20 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS.
Tuesday, August 23
An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen today on Sidney Spit,
Sidney Island, around noon. Other highlights there were 11 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 15 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 3 CASPIAN TERNS and 5
HEERMANN'S GULLS.
A HORNED LARK was seen near the picnic tables at Witty's Lagoon
in Metchosin today, from the ocean side.
At Albert Head Lagoon, also in Metchosin, highlights were: 1 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER, 1 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER,
and 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
At Bowker Ave. in Oak Bay there were 30 WESTERN SANDPIPERS and 6
GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
At Loon Bay there were 100 WESTERN and LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, 3 COMMON MURRES and 1 MARBLED
MURRELET.
At Swan Lake in Saanich, there were 4 GREEN HERONS seen, 2 adults
and 2 immatures. Also there were PURPLE MARTINS and WARBLING
VIREOS.
Sunday, August 21
3 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were seen from the Victoria Golf Course in
Oak Bay. 3 WHIMBRELS were seen from the end of Rutland Ave. in Oak
Bay, but from the ocean side.
Friday, August 19
At Bowker Avenue in Oak Bay were 25 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS,
2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
At Ogden Point in Victoria were 20 BLACK TURNSTONES and 3
SURFBIRDS.
At Esquimalt Lagoon in Colwood were a MERLIN, 3 CASPIAN TERNS
and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER. A second hand report of a RUDDY
TURNSTONE that has been seen for the last week between Holland
Point and Beacon Hill Park and the Ogden Point Breakwater.
