The past 10 days has seen a surge of the usual migrants and some late
lingering winter visitors.

On 2 May Mike and MerryLynn Denny spied 3 male EURASIAN WIGEONS persisting
at the Tyson ponds (formerly Iowa Beef ponds) in western Walla Walla Co WA.
At Dodd-Iowa Beef Road, which is at US 12 milepost 301.5 about 5.5 miles
north of the jct of US 12 and US 730, turn onto Dodd-Iowa Road and follow it
east about 0.5 miles past the slaughter house, the road goes down a little
hill and then back up. At the top, turn right onto a gravel road that used
to be a railroad grade. Follow it to settling ponds. WA DeLorme 40, CD-1.

More outrageous was a SNOWY OWL seen on 3 May by Mark Houston alongside US 2
about 5 miles west of Davenport, Lincoln Co WA, near the Rocklyn Road
intersection. Gina Sheridan, Craig Corder, and Kim Thorburn spied a SNOWY in
this same general area on 6 May.

On 7 May, several Spokane area birders observed a WHITE-FACED IBIS in
Spokane Co WA. This bird was off of Jensen Road between Cheney and Four
Lakes, north of the rodeo grounds. WA DeLorme 88, D-4.

Good birding.
