This is the Northwest Minnesota Birding Report for Friday, May 12, 2006
sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce. You may
also hear this report by calling (218) 847-5743 or 1-800-433-1888.

The next two weeks will bring the majority of migrants to the northwest;
already, warblers are starting to be reported, and the next days will
bring most of the rest. Trees are almost fully leafed out, so warbler
watching will be a challenge this year. Rain in varying amounts fell
during three days this week, so the area is wet, and gravel roads will
be sloppy for a few days.

Al Batt reported a WESTERN TANAGER in rural Carlos, Douglas County , at
the home of LuWanna Hintermeister on May 7. Beau Shroyer saw a
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW near Nelson on May 7 and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW on May

first house to the west on the north side of the road. UPLAND SANDPIPER
