Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 18. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 11 a PHAINOPEPLA was reported at Malheur NWR Headquarters. A
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was seen May 14 in Redmond. On May 12 three MANX
SHEARWATERS were seen among a large flock of shearwaters at the mouth of the
Columbia River. EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were reported during the week from
Hammond and John Day.

Heavy movements of WESTERN TANAGERS, LAZULI BUNTINGS, and WESTERN KINGBIRDS
were noted during the week. A number of VAUXıS SWIFTS and BLACK SWIFTS were
seen during the week at New River, south of Bandon. On May 13 a
WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was seen there.

A pair of IBIS were over Lincoln City May 11. That day a flock of COMMON and
ARCTIC TERNS was at Yaquina Bay. On May 14 a SAGE THRASHER was at the South
Jetty of Yaquina Bay. That day a SAGE THRASHER and a BLACK-THROATED SPARROW
were at Ecola State Park, near Cannon Beach. On May 15 a WHITE-THROATED
SWIFT was over Gearhart.

On May 13, 19 WESTERN KINGBIRDS were at the Portland Airport. A VESPER
SPARROW was at the Sandy River Delta May 12. A BREWERıS SPARROW was there
May 16. On May 16 over 15 male LAZULI BUNTINGS, an EASTERN KINGBIRD, and a
WESTERN KINGBIRD were at Powell Butte Park in Gresham. At least 16 WHITE
PELICANS are now being seen at Baskett Slough NWR. On May 17 a RED-EYED
VIREO was near Mehama, east of Salem. A flock of five FORSTERıS TERNS were
seen May 15 at Ankeny NWR.

On May 14 a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was near Bend. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was
along the Little Deschutes River near Gilchrist May 12. On May 13 two
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were at the Wasco Sewage Ponds.
