This is the Chicago Audubon Society bird report for Tuesday, August 30,
2005 at 7:00pm.
A WESTERN KINGBIRD was seen yesterday and today at Montrose. Also seen at
Montrose today were WHIMBREL and LESSER BLACK-BACKED and LAUGHING GULLS.
Sixteen species of warblers were at Montrose yesterday, and 15 species of
warblers including a CONNECTICUT were seen today in Grant Park. Eighteen
species of warblers were seen yesterday at both Rosehill Cemetery and the
Hammond Bird Sanctuary.
Seen at Lake Calumet's Big Marsh yesterday were LITTLE BLUE HERON,
BLACK-BELLIED and GOLDEN- PLOVERS, WESTERN SANDPIPER, and eight BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS.
At Lake Calumet's Dead Stick Pond yesterday were three SNOWY EGRETS and a
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER.
Six LITTLE BLUE HERONS and three BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were at Eggers Woods
yesterday.
A MOCKINGBIRD was seen yesterday at Lake Calumet's Harborside Golf Course.
Seen along the Waukegan Beach on Saturday were 46 SANDERLINGS and a
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.
Seven LITTLE BLUE HERONS and three OSPREY were seen Saturday at Powderhorn
Lake Forest Preserve.
Five LITTLE BLUE HERONS and a SNOWY EGRET were seen Saturday at Mount
Vernon Cemetery.
A TRUMPETER SWAN was at McGinnis Slough yesterday.
