Reports summarized this week are from San Bernardino, Riverside and
Imperial Counties.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Howard King reported from the Big Bear Lake area. The PAINTED REDSTART
continues to be seen in the Pine Kone lane area of Fawnskin. In the
Baldwin Lake area he reported an immature VERMILION FLYCATCHER at the
sewage treatment plant at Baldwin Lake. On the slope south of Baldwin
Lake he reported a flock of 20 plus PINYON JAYS. He also reported 160
plus WHITE-FACED IBIS. Linda Stitt reported an EARED GREBE with young near
the east shore of Baldwin Lake near Terrace Lane.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Roger Higson took a boat trip down the river and reported several tight
flocks of birds flying south. His sightings included: 57 CASPIAN TERNS, 74
BLACK TERNS, 27 WILLETS, 47 RED KNOT, 3 BLACK SKIMMERS and an immature
SABINE’S GULL.

IMPERIAL COUNTY

Guy McCaskie reported 3 RUDDY TURNSTONE at the north end of Garst Rd. and
1 adult at Obsidian Butte. There was also 1 BLACK TURNSTONE at Obsidian
Butte. 5 juvenile RED KNOT were sighted at the west end of Alcott Rd. 2
juvenile BAIRD’S SANDPIPER were seen in an irrigated field at the
intersection of Rutherford Rd. and Hwy. 111 and 1 adult male RUFF was seen
in an irrigated field at the intersection of Young and Gentery Rd.

Thomas Miko reported numerous BLACK TERNS at Finney and Ramer Lakes as
well as many other expected species for this time of year. An ELEGANT
TERN, one LEAST TERN, and many expected birds were sighted in the area of
the southeast sea. At Cattle Call Park, in Blythe, he saw a GILA
WOODPECKER and an all gray WARBLING VIREO.
