Reports summarized this week are from San Bernardino, Riverside and
Imperial Counties.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

June 2, Steve Myers found a pair of LUCY’S WARBLERS in cottonwood woodland
along the Mojave River in Victorville. The birds were seen on the west
side of the river adjacent to Eva Dell Park, about ½ mile upstream of I-
15. Earlier in the week, he spotted two territorial LEAST BELL’S VIREO
along the river downstream of I-15, as well as 2 pairs of SUMMER TANAGERS.

Sandra Remley reported from the Big Bear area on June 6. One mile in on
2N02 from Vale, she saw many BLACK-CHINNED and BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS as
well as SPOTTED TOWHEE and GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE. At Arrastra Creek she saw
both a male and female HEPATIC TANAGER, INDIGO BUNTING, CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRD, and MOUNTAIN QUAIL.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Madeline Bauer reported a male TOWNSEND’S WARBLER and a WILSON’S WARBLER
at Lorena along the 66th street side of the Goose Creek Golf course in
Mira Loma on May 31. She also saw a CASSIN’S KINGBIRD in the same area.

Roger Higson reported from Blythe on June 7, where he had a report of a
female CARDINAL. The bird is coming in to use the feeders at a private
residence. Spotting the bird does not require bothering the owner of the
property. To reach a good listening site, take I-10 East to I-78 and turn
South. Slowly go about 20 yards until you see an area of Mesquite to the
west. Pull in down one of the three little blacktop roads down to a barren
area.
