Welcome to the City of Calgary and CFNS Bird Alert. This Bird Alert was
recorded on Thursday, Sept 1 at 9:15am. To report a bird sighting, leave a

YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were in North Glenmore Park in Calgary in sizable
numbers on the morning of Wednesday, August 31. Terry Korolyk reported at
least 180 of the birds were in the west end of the park between 8:30-10:00am
and there were probably over 200 birds in the entire park during that
period. Also seen there by Terry were 1 - 2 immature WESTERN TANAGERS,
small numbers of WARBLING VIREOS and CHIPPING and CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS.
Other warblers seen there by Terry included TENNESSEE, WILSON'S and
ORANGE-CROWNED.
Penny Smith reported an adult BALD EAGLE has been in the vicinity of the
Crowchild Trail Bridge this week. Penny has observed the bird there from
Sunday, August 28 to Wednesday, August 31. Penny Smith also reported a
PEREGRINE FALCON was feeding on a bird in a field at Spruce Cliff School in
southwest Calgary at 2pm on Tuesday, August 30.
The next scheduled update of the Bird Alert is Monday, September 5.

BIRD STUDY GROUP: Meets the first Wednesday of each month except June thru
August when field trips replace the meetings. Meetings are held in Room 211
of the Biosciences Bldg at U of C.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 7. Three Calgary birders
will show-and-tell about their recent international birding adventures. Ken
Havard visited Queensland with a group of Calgary birders, and Brooke
Clibbon and Eric Tull will discuss their Thailand experience.
