Once again, the pair of SANDHILL CRANES nesting in the MWC have successfully
reproduced, and 2 Colts are now being observed in the company of the
adults. Last sighting of the family came on the 10th from Carncross Rd., where the
pavement ends. Attempts to relocate the Crane family have been
successful about 50% of the time. Other areas to check are the cut corn field along
the south side of Carncross Rd., or try to find the Cranes
by scanning from the DEC Parking Area at the end of Morgan Rd. Keep in mind a few
attempts may be necessary. Refer to page 74, Grid D1
in the NYS DeLorme.
The WILSON'S PHALAROPE first discovered on the 3rd feeding in 'LaRue's Lagoon'
(or the newly constructed wetland on the east side of the beginning of
the Wildlife Drive Auto Loop), was indeed observed again on the 4th, but Phalarope
has not been relocated since.

Cade, Dottie, and Fowler can be observed daily inside their nestbox platform atop
the 20th floor of State Tower Building at 109 South Warren
Street in the City of Syracuse.
The pair of adult PEREGRINE FALCONS have nested for the past two years, and a webcam
allows viewers to
observe the Falcons while nesting. Refer to the following URL:

An OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHER was found this morning the 12th at Three Rivers
Wildlife Management Area north of
Baldwinsville. The bird was on top of some dead branches in a small group of
trees on the south side of Kellog Road about 1/4 mile east of Smokey Hollow
road. A photo has been posted to the OneidaBirds Listerv:

DeLorme pg. 74 for 3-Rivers WMA.
FISH CROWS were heard vocalizing today the 12th from a residential neighborhood
in Liverpool. The Crows were
hanging around the Sun Harbor Rd. / Cold Spring Rd. area. These are likely the same
Birds that are often observed at the nearby Salt Museum area.

Migrants reported from this past week include:
Semipalmated Plover, White-rumped, Semipalmated, and Least Sandpipers, and Dunlin
were the only migrants reported this week. All were observed
from the Wildlife Drive Auto Loop at MNWR on the 10th. Few Birders seem to be
reporting lately, likely due to nasty weather...
