This Bird Alert was recorded on Thursday, June 22 at 10:40am.

A GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER was seen at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in
Calgary on Sunday, June 18. The bird was seen at 10:30 by Marlene Swingle;
it was in the wooded area east of the path that runs north to south along
the east flank of the main lagoon. The Bird Sanctuary is one of the few
sites in the city that occasionally attracts this species. Other reports
from the Bird Sanctuary this week included a GOLDEN EAGLE that was reported
by Jim Davis and 2 other observers as it soared high over the sanctuary on
Monday, June 19.

Jean Moore heard at least one YELLOW RAIL on Monday, June 19 at the wetland
on the Horse Creek Road, 9.5 kms north of Hwy 1A west of Cochrane. Jean was
at the site at 9am.

Both GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS were at Little Fish Lake east of
Drumheller on Monday, June 19. Jody Allair reported 2 GREATER and 5 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS there and he also observed a single BONAPARTE'S GULL. At the
Hoodoo Recreation Area near East Coulee on Saturday, June 17, Jody watched a
TURKEY VULTURE.

Simone Marler observed 2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS west of Irricana recently; the
birds were between Hwys 72 and 567 off Rge Rds 272, 274.

Terry Korolyk reported at least one COMMON LOON is spending the summer at
Lake Bonavista off Acadia Drive in Southeast Calgary. Terry observed the
bird there on the morning of Wednesday, June 26. Terry also reported 3
OSPREY were circling the lake.
