There has been another report of BOBOLINKS in southern Alberta. This most
recent report comes from Dorothy Torkalson who reported on Tuesday, June 27
she saw a pair of BOBOLINKS 5 kms. west of Duchess in a field on the west
corner of the Hwy 550 - Rge Rd 152 junction. Other locations where the
species has been reported this year include the 450 Ave-216 St. junction
southwest of Turner Valley; the 240 St - 290 Ave junction north of
Millarville and the northeast corner of the Twp Rd 280 - Grand Valley Rd
junction northwest of Cochrane.



An adult TRUMPETER SWAN was seen at the north end of Clear Lake 15 kms east
of Stavely on Saturday, June 24. The bird was seen by Terry Korolyk. The
site can be accessed by going east from the town of Stavely on Twp Rd. 142.
This is the second report this summer of a TRUMPETER SWAN in southern
Alberta. There have been no reports since mid-June on the adult that had
been present through the first half of June on a large slough on the east
side of Rge Rd 283 just north of Glenmore Trail east of Calgary.



LAZULI BUNTINGS are breeding off Hwy 546 west of Turner Valley. Annual
breeders along the western half of this road, 2 birds were reported Tuesday
June 27, 5 kms west of the Sheep Ranger Station by Al and Helga Borgardt.
On Wednesday, June 28, Al and Helga Borgardt reported 2 TENNESSEE WARBLERS
were in the Bebo Grove area of west Fish Creek PP in Calgary.



Colin Young and Linda Bailey reported 7 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS made a stop
in their yard in the University Heights area of Calgary on Wednesday, June
28. This species and PINE SISKINS are reported to be scarce in the Calgary
area this season.



The next scheduled update of the bird alert is on Monday, July 3.
