The Texas Rare Bird Alert is presented as a service of Houston Audubon Society.

On the Upper Texas Coast shorebirds are beginning to make their way back south,
including a bright BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER ( Tryngites subruficollis) seen on a
mudflat on the right of the Quintana Bridge. A WOOD THRUSH (Hylocichla musetina) was
reported from Russ Pitman Park in Houston, a very unusual summer bird.

In the Coastal Bend area five HUDSONIAN GODWITS (Limosa haemastica) were present
today in a flooded field off of FM 2717 (the road to Alamo Beach) about one mile NE
of Hwy 316 in Calhoun County.

In Northeast Texas an unusual summer CALIFORNIA GULL (Larus californium) was seen at
Lake Tawakoni on June 26.

In the Trans-Pecos an immature WHITE-TAILED HAWK (Buteo albicaudatus) was found one
mile south of Valentine on Hwy. 90 yesterday July 2.
