EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Friday, September 2.

The CURLEW SANDPIPER at South Beach in Chatham was still present there
yesterday, and other recent reports from South Beach have included 6 WHITE-
WINGED SCOTERS, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS, roughly 1000 BLACK-
BELLIED PLOVERS, 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, 130 AMERICAN
OYSTERCATCHERS, 30 WILLETS, 15 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 3
MARBLED GODWITS, 250 RED KNOTS, 200 SEMIPALMATED SAND-
PIPERS, 1 WESTERN SANDPIPER, 75 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS,
100 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 unidentified jaeger, 6 LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 6 FORSTER'S TERNS, and 4 BLACK TERNS.

A LARK SPARROW was found this morning in the Sandy Point parking lot
near the southern end of Plum Island, and other reports from the island this
week have included 4 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 110 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 2 WHIMBREL, 34 STILT SANDPIPERS, 4 BUFF-
BREASTED SANDPIPERS, 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 18 LAUGHING
GULLS, 2 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 400 COMMON TERNS,
16 BLACK TERNS, 1 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, 1 BLACK-
THROATED BLUE WARBLER, 5 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS, 1
PHILADELPHIA VIREO, 2 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, and 11
BALTIMORE ORIOLES.

At the Great Meadows Refuge in Concord there were 70 WOOD DUCKS, 14
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 12 GREAT EGRETS, 2 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERONS, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 1 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 6
WILSON'S SNIPE, 3 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS, 200 BARN SWALLOWS,
1 SEDGE WREN, 8 MARSH WRENS, and 10 BOBOLINKS, and at Nahant
and Lynn beaches there were 420 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 1700
SANDERLINGS, 900 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 4 WHITE-
RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 110 LAUGHING GULLS, 1150 BONAPARTE'S
GULLS, 3200 COMMON TERNS, 10 ROSEATE TERNS, and 1 ARCTIC
TERN.
