EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Friday, July 7.

Large numbers of seabirds were reported this week from Stellwagen Bank and
nearby waters, with counts ranging from hundreds to several thousand GREATER
and SOOTY SHEARWATERS and WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, a maximum
of 12 MANX SHEARWATERS, at least 1 LEACH'S STORM-PETREL,
and several PARASITIC JAEGERS.

Seen at Race Point in Provincetown were 22 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 55
SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 25 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 40 LAUGHING
GULLS, and 1 ROSEATE TERN, and reports from Plum Island this week
included 1 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 9 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 AMERICAN
BITTERN, 12 GLOSSY IBISES, 1 SORA, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 3
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 18 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, 174 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 317 SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS, 4 ROSEATE TERNS, 1 ALDER FLYCATCHER, 6 WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS, 55 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS, and
2 ORCHARD ORIOLES.

Miscellaneous reports this week have included 3 CATTLE EGRETS in Ipswich,
9 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 6 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED
SPARROWS at the Belle Isle Marsh in East Boston, and a YELLOW-
CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at the Marblehead Neck Sanctuary.
