Alabama Rare Bird Report – Sunday, July 9, 2006.

An alternate plumage ARCTIC TERN was reported 7/5 on Mobile Point south of
Fort Morgan. This bird was associating with a large flock of terns and gulls
that typical are found lounging on the beach. To my knowledge, subsequent
searches have failed to relocate this potential 1st state record. [DeAL
64-B4][BGtA p. 23]

A pair of GRAY KINGBIRDS have evidently nested along the southern edge of
Lake Shelby in Baldwin County. The location is near the pay booth to the Gulf
State Park fishing and picnic area just north of the AL 135 intersection with AL
182. [DeAL 64-F3][BGtA p. 33-34]

A pair of SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHERS have been seen several times this summer
near Big Daddy’s service station at the Bridgeport exit off US 72 in Jackson
County. Check the power lines near the station itself and other nearby
exposed perches. [DeAL 21-A6]
