At the Imperial grasslands on 7/10, a male NORTHERN HARRIER was present,
along with 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 5 Least Sandpipers, 6 Spotted Sandpipers;
on 7/11, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 12 Least Sandpipers, 1
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO; on 7/14, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 5 Least Sandpipers, 9
Spotted Sandpipers, 1 Green Heron (MV). On 7/16, 7 Solitary Sandpipers, 2
Least Sandpipers, 23 Wood Ducks, 1 Green Heron, PRAIRIE WARBLER,
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, White-eyed Vireo (MV).
BEAVER COUNTY:
At Little Blue Lake on the evening of 7/13, sightings included 4
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 Least Sandpiper, 1 Spotted
Sandpiper, 1 YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, 1 Scarlet Tanager; on 7/14, 1
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 2 Least
Sandpipers, 1 Spotted Sandpiper (MV).
BUTLER COUNTY:
Through 7/16 at an unspecified location, 1 EURASIAN-COLLARED DOVE continues
at a backyard feeder with Mourning Doves (MB).
CLARION COUNTY:
Near Sligo on 7/14, singing HENSLOW'S SPARROWS, SWAMP SPARROWS, GRASSHOPPER
SPARROWS, Orchard Orioles (CW).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
On 7/14 in the Pymatuning area, sightings included 7 BALD EAGLES, 3 PURPLE
FINCHES, 4 YELLOW-THROATED VIREOS, 1 WARBLING VIREO, 1 Wood Duck hen with 4
chicks, 2 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, 4 MARSH WRENS singing, 6 SWAMP SPARROWS, 2
BOBOLINKS, and others (BV).
ERIE COUNTY:
At Presque Isle on 7/15, highlights were 1 WILLET, 15 SANDERLINGS, 1
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, 3 STILT SANDPIPERS, 1 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 8
Semipalmated Sandpipers, 3 Least Sandpipers, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 4
Semipalmated Plovers, Spotted Sandpiper, 13 CASPIAN TERNS, 12 COMMON TERNS,
1 FORSTER'S TERN, 1 OSPREY, 1 female GREATER SCAUP, 1 Green Heron (MV).
FAYETTE COUNTY:
On 7/7 at the Quebec Run wild area near Uniontown, highlights were Acadian
Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, VEERY, HERMIT THRUSH, Wood
Thrush, Gray Catbird, Black-throated Green Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler,
OVENBIRD, Louisiana Waterthrush, KENTUCKY WARBLER, Hooded Warbler, Scarlet
Tanager, and others (DB).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
On 7/14 at the Volant Strips, 2 BOBOLINKS, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 1 GRASSHOPPER
SPARROW, and others (BV); on 7/15, 21 American Kestrels, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER
(MV).
On 7/15 in Plain Grove, 2 adult and 1 juvenile SANDHILL CRANES at the marsh
on Golf Course Road (MV).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
On the evening of 7/11 and morning of 7/12, after several weeks of silence,
the Wood Thrushes and YELLOW-THROATED VIREO were heartily singing again (AT).
At Buffalo Camp Road in IBA# 80 on 7/15/06, a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was heard
singing in the morning (LC).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
At Loyalhanna Lake on 7/12, highlights were 3 young and 2 adult OSPREY,
Great Crested Flycatchers with fledged young, singing American Redstart,
Field Sparrows, Eastern Kingbird, White-eyed Vireo (TV).
