Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This
Birdline covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to
Thursday, July 20, 2006.

CENTRE COUNTY:
The 3 COMMON LOONS continue to be seen through at least July 15 near the
dam at Bald Eagle State Park (BS).

A WINTER WREN was seen in the Mingoville 6 breeding bird atlas block on
July 18 (MH).

CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
There were up to 39 DICKCISSELS in fields around Newburg along with
BARRED OWL, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, BLUE GROSEBEAK and EASTERN MEADOWLARK
between July 16 and 18 (AM, RF. CK).

State Game Lands 169 produced 6 WOOD DUCKS, 1 CHUCKAR, 16 GREAT BLUE
HERONS, 5 GREAT EGRETS, 1 SNOWY EGRET, 7 GREEN HERONS, 1 OSPREY, 1
NORTHERN HARRIER, 2 BARRED OWLS, WILLOW FLYCATCHER, WHITE-EYED VIREO,
WARBLING VIREO, 20 PURPLE MARTINS, SCARLET TANAGER, 1 BLUE GROSBEAK and
10 DICKCISSELS on July 19 (AM).

DAUPHIN COUNTY:
A SNOWY EGRET was seen along the Susquehanna River about 100 yards
downstream from the Fort Hunter Boat Launch on July 13 (CR).

Birds seen near City Island on July 14 included several DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANTS, 10 GREAT EGRETS and 1 OSPREY (LU).

LANCASTER COUNTY:
Birds seen at Conejohela Flats on July 17 included 2 OSPREY, 2 adult and
6 immature BALD EAGLES, 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 47 KILLDEER, 2 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 16 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 2 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, 12 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1 BONAPARTE'S GULL, 2 FORSTER'S TERNS
and 3 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS (DH).

MCKEAN COUNTY:
A pair of MERLINS continues to be seen near their nest at a withheld
location (for their protection) through at least July 13 (JF).

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY:
Bonnie Dell Farm in Franklin Township yielded 25 CANADA GEESE, 1 TURKEY
VULTURE, 1 RED-TAILED HAWK, 3 ROCK PIGEONS, 6 MOURNING DOVES, 3
RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, 2 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS, BLUE JAYS, 3
AMERICAN CROWS, 6 BARN SWALLOWS, AMERICAN ROBINS, CEDAR WAXWINGS, 4
YELLOW WARBLERS and 4 AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES between July 14 and 18 (HF).
