report sightings to Jon Fisher at 818-544-5009 or via e-mail at

An adult BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was along the LA River in Long Beach on July 16.
The bird was seen about 200 yards north of the Del Amo crossing.

Two more BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were reported from the Santa Clara River Estuary
in Ventura on July 15. The estuary is currently flooded, limiting available
shorebird habitat.

FIELD TRIP NOTE: Due to fires, the field trip scheduled for the Big Bear
area on Sunday July 23 will undergo a location change. This trip will now
bird along the Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains. Meet at
7AM just north of the 210 Freeway, parking on the frontage road that
parallels the northbound Angeles Crest Highway. Bring a lunch.

This report is sponsored by the Los Angeles Audubon Society.
