Sightings at Little Blue Lake this week included 1 AMERICAN AVOCET on 7/16;
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS from 7/16 through 7/23; GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, Solitary Sandpipers,
and Spotted Sandpipers all week; 1 YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and a pair of
Orchard Orioles on 7/16; 1 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER on 7/21; PECTORAL SANDPIPERS on
7/21 and 7/23; and 100-110 crows on 7/23 (MV).
In Potter Township on 7/23, 2 adult and 2 juvenile OSPREY (MV).
BUTLER COUNTY:
On 7/16 at Moraine State Park, sightings included Green Heron, Turkey
Vulture, Ring-billed Gulls, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, Ruby-throated Hummingbird,
Eastern Wood-pewee, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Phoebe, pair of Eastern
Kingbirds, White-eyed Vireos, Red-eyed Vireo, Tree Swallow, NORTHERN
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW, House Wren, Wood Thrush, Gray Catbird, CHESTNUT-SIDED
WARBLER, Black-throated Green Warbler, OVENBIRD, Common Yellowthroat, female
Hooded Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, Red-winged Blackbird, and others (KSJ).
INDIANA COUNTY:
In Clarksburg this week, sightings included Broad-winged Hawk, PURPLE
FINCHES, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, KENTUCKY WARBLERS, Eastern Wood-pewee,
flocking blackbirds (MC).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
In the New Beaver area on 7/23, sightings included 2 TRUMPETER SWANS and 5
Hooded Mergansers at the Three Rivers Gravel pond; 18 COMMON MOORHENS, 33
Wood Ducks, 4 Green Herons at Wampum-New Galilee Road (MV).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
1 mature BALD EAGLE was observed on 7/18 at Beaver Run Reservoir (SG).
