YELLOWLEGS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 Solitary Sandpipers, 2 Least Sandpipers,
1 Spotted Sandpiper, and many Barn Swallows; on 8/2, 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 2
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, 4 Least Sandpipers, 4 Spotted
Sandpipers, 1 adult male NORTHERN HARRIER; on 8/6, 1 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 Least Sandpiper (MV).
BEAVER COUNTY:
At Little Blue Lake on 8/4, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 17 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 6 Semipalmated Plovers, Killdeer, 24 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 10 Spotted Sandpipers, 28 Least Sandpipers, 3 Semipalmated
Sandpipers, 6 Solitary Sandpipers (MV); on 8/6, sightings included 1 adult
PEREGRINE FALCON, 1 Yellow-throated Warbler, singing YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO
and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, White-eyed Vireo, Red-eyed
Vireo, Acadian Flycatcher, Scarlet Tanager, HENSLOW'S SPARROW, and others
(GM); also 1 RUDDY TURNSTONE, 50+ PECTORAL SANDPIPERS (MV).
CLARION COUNTY:
In Sligo on 8/3, sightings included 1 adult and 5-6 young WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS, young Eastern Kingbirds, young Baltimore Orioles, Brown
Thrashers, 4-5 calling HENSLOW'S SPARROWS with possible young, and others (CW).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
At Pymatuning on 8/5, sightings included a pair of adult SANDHILL CRANES
along Swamp Road; at Miller's Ponds were 2 mating PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 1
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 10 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1
Semipalmated Plover, 2 WILSON'S SNIPE, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 16 Least
Sandpipers, 7 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, 2 GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, 1 American Black Duck; at the Fish Hatchery were 7 Spotted Sandpipers;
at the Espyville Marina, 1 CASPIAN TERN, 2 Herring Gulls; just outside of
Espyville, 1 OSPREY; and at Hartstown Marsh, 1 Pied-billed Grebe (MV).
FOREST COUNTY:
Near Neilltown on 8/1, 1 female NORTHERN HARRIER, Broad-winged Hawk,
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, Acadian Flycatcher, ALDER FLYCATCHER, Great Crested
Flycatcher, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, Yellow Warbler, 2
Yellow-rumped Warblers, CERULEAN WARBLER, 2 Black-and-white Warblers,
American Redstart, SWAMP SPARROW, PURPLE FINCH (FM).
Near Tionesta on 8/6, 2 PINE SISKINS (FM).
On 8/3 near East Hickory, 1 singing CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, HERMIT THRUSH,
Brown Thrasher, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED GREEN
WARBLER (FM).
VENANGO COUNTY:
Near Pleasantville on 7/31, Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 WINTER WRENS,
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, MOURNING WARBLER
(1 adult and 1 fledgling) (FM).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
At Canonsburg Lake on 7/31, 1 GREAT EGRET, Great Blue Heron hybrid, 2
Solitary Sandpipers, 2 Broad-winged Hawks (MV).
At the AMD pond on 7/31, 1 American Coot (MV).
On the evening of 8/2 in Coal Center, 4 PURPLE MARTINS (JT). On the morning
of 8/4 in a farm field edge on South Ridge Road in Coal Center, 1
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, 1 WILLOW FLYCATCHER; also seen were 4 Northern
Rough-winged Swallows, flock of 50-75 Red-winged Blackbirds; along Pike Run
Creek, singing Louisiana Waterthrush (AT).
WARREN COUNTY:
At an unspecified location through 8/6, MERLINS with 2 fledged young have
been observed (reported to JF).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
On 7/31 in the 72A33 atlassing area near Loyalhanna Lake, highlights were
CERULEAN WARBLERS, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS, GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS, Eastern
Bluebirds, White-eyed Vireos, Acadian Flycatchers, Wood Thrush (SM).
