San Mateo Co.

On Aug 7, (9) adult SABINE'S GULL and (6) PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS
were seen in amongst SOOTY SHEARWATER during a sea watch from
Ocean Blvd in Moss Beach. (Ron Thorn)

Santa Clara Co.
---------------
On Aug 7, a basic plumaged COMMON TERN and juvenile BLACK TERN were
seen on the small island in the northeastern corner of the West Pond
at the Sunnyvale Water Treatment Facility. From Hwy 237, take
East Caribbean to the west, turn left onto Borregas Ave, turn left into
the parking lot. Take the trail west past the radar site, over the
channel at the pumping station, follow the dike to the right.
The island is about 100 feet after the trail turns to the west.

Pelagic Trip to Farallon Islands
--------------------------------
On Aug 6, a trip to the Farallon Island, consisting of two boats had the
following: (1) MANX'S SHEARWATER, (2) PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
(2000) SOOTY SHEARWATERS, (1) NORTHERN FULMAR, (12) TUFTED PUFFIN,
(8) RHINOCEROS AUKLET, (35) CASSIN'S AUKLET, thousands of COMMON MURRES,
(200) PIGEON GUILLEMOT and (35) RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.

Pelagic Trip to Cordell Bank.

On Aug 7, a pelagic trip to the Cordell Bank reported (110) BLACK-FOOTED
ALBATROSSES, (14) NORTHERN FULMAR, (320) PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
(21,400) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (6) BULLER'S SHEARWATER,
(450) ASHY STORM-PETREL, (8) WILSON'S STORM-PETREL,
(1) BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, (160) RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, (12) RED PHALAROPE,
(2) POMARINE JAEGER, (1) PARASITIC JAEGER, (3) COMMON TERN,
(1) ARCTIC TERN, (1) BLACK SKIMMER, (46) SABINE'S GULL,
(1000) COMMON MURRE, (90) PIGEON GUILLEMOT, (6) CASSIN'S AUKLET,
(35) RHINOCEROS AUKLET, and (3) TUFTED PUFFIN.
